In the afternoon, meet your Adventure Leader and fellow travelers for a quick trip briefing get insider tips on navigating Japan like a local, from train etiquette to must-try snacks. Then it’s straight into a welcome dinner featuring authentic Japanese dishes, the perfect icebreaker to meet your new travel crew and dive into Japan’s world-famous food scene. 🍣🥢 After dinner, choose your vibe: join the group for drinks at a local Tokyo izakaya or take it easy and soak in the excitement of your first night in Japan. Either way, your unforgettable journey through Tokyo starts here. ✨ Get ready for ramen, neon lights, and memories that’ll last a lifetime.
Day 2
Today we dive into Tokyo’s perfect mix of tradition and trend. Start the morning surrounded by peace at Meiji Shrine, one of Tokyo’s most iconic landmarks. Dedicated to Emperor Meiji — the leader who helped shape modern Japan — this tranquil forest shrine offers a serene escape from the city’s buzz. Next, step into the colorful world of Harajuku, Tokyo’s youth fashion hub. Explore Takeshita Street’s quirky boutiques, vintage shops, and themed cafes — a must-see for anyone curious about Japan’s bold street style culture. In the afternoon, make your way to the world-famous Shibuya Crossing, the busiest pedestrian intersection on Earth. Watch as thousands of people move in perfect chaos, and don’t forget to visit the beloved Hachiko statue, a Tokyo icon of loyalty. By evening, you’ll have time to explore more of Shibuya’s neon-lit streets, local eateries, or cozy bars at your own pace.
Day 3
Today we dive into two sides of Tokyo — the futuristic and the traditional. First stop: Akihabara, Japan’s legendary “Electric Town.” Step into a neon wonderland packed with anime shops, gaming arcades, and the latest tech gadgets. Challenge your travel crew to a few arcade battles or explore themed cafes for a fun taste of otaku culture. Don’t miss a visit to one of Akihabara’s famous maid cafes — a quirky, photo-worthy slice of Tokyo pop culture. Next, we trade neon lights for history as we visit the Asakusa district, home to the magnificent Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple. Wander down Nakamise Street, lined with traditional stalls selling local snacks and souvenirs — a perfect spot to grab some classic Japanese treats. In the evening, you’ll have the option to join a sumo experience, where you can meet former wrestlers, learn about this ancient sport, and enjoy a hearty chanko nabe dinner — the same meal that fuels sumo champions. Wrap up your day at your own pace — explore the cozy izakayas of Hoppy Street, sample local drinks, or just soak up the atmosphere of Tokyo by night.
Day 4
we begin our day at Hase-dera Temple, one of Kamakura’s most beloved sites. Known for its magnificent eleven-headed Kannon statue and lush hillside gardens, Hase-dera offers breathtaking views over the ocean and town below. Stroll through the peaceful grounds, listen to the soft ringing of temple bells, and maybe write a small wish on an ema (wooden prayer plaque). From there, we’ll slow things down with a Japanese calligraphy class led by a local instructor. Using brush, ink, and washi paper, you’ll learn the graceful art of shodo — where every stroke reflects balance and mindfulness. It’s not just about writing; it’s about expressing calm and intention through each movement. Afterward, enjoy some free time to wander Komachi-dori Street, Kamakura’s lively shopping lane filled with local treats, handmade crafts, and cozy cafés. Try sweet potato soft serve, browse through antique shops, or just soak up the town’s relaxed, seaside energy. As the sun sets, head to the beach or find a quiet spot near the Great Buddha (Daibutsu) for a moment of reflection. Tonight, we’ll stay in a local guesthouse or traditional inn, where you can enjoy a home-style meal and unwind after a day of culture and creativity.
Day 5
Today is all about slowing down and soaking in the best of Shimoda’s coastal serenity. Nestled on the Izu Peninsula, Shimoda is famous for its pristine beaches, stunning bay views, and rejuvenating onsen hot springs — the perfect place to unwind. Start the morning with a gentle stroll along Perry Road, a quaint street lined with traditional houses, boutique cafés, and local craft shops. Pop into the Museum of Black Ships (MoBS) or Ryosenji Temple if you’d like to explore Shimoda’s rich history at a leisurely pace. By mid-morning, it’s time to let go of the hustle and bustle. Check into your ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) and prepare for a day of pure relaxation. Step into the natural hot spring baths, letting the warm, mineral-rich waters ease away any travel fatigue while you enjoy panoramic views of the coast or mountains. Take your time — lounge in a yukata, sip green tea, or simply breathe in the crisp sea air. For lunch, enjoy a seasonal kaiseki-style meal featuring the freshest local seafood, carefully prepared and elegantly presented. In the afternoon, you can wander along the bay or relax in the ryokan’s private onsen. Capture the sunset over Shimoda Bay — a serene moment that embodies the calm and beauty of coastal Japan. End your day with another soak in the hot springs and a peaceful evening in your ryokan. Tonight is about rest, reflection, and recharging your energy for the next stage of your Japan journey.
Day 6
This morning, we leave the coast behind and board the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto. Sit back and relax as you glide past Japan’s scenic countryside — there’s nothing like experiencing the speed and efficiency of Japan’s legendary trains. Once in Kyoto, we begin our exploration at Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, one of the city’s largest and most awe-inspiring Buddhist sites. Wander through its grand wooden halls, admire the intricate architecture, and stroll its peaceful gardens while learning about its role in Japanese history and culture. Next, we visit the world-famous Fushimi Inari Taisha, home to thousands of vermillion torii gates winding up the hillside. Take your time walking the trails, snap unforgettable photos, and soak in the spiritual atmosphere that has made this shrine a must-see for visitors to Kyoto. By evening, check into your accommodation and enjoy some free time. Stroll the charming streets, sample local Kyoto cuisine, or simply unwind and reflect on the day’s unforgettable experiences.
Day 7
Start your day with a trip to Arashiyama, a picturesque district on the outskirts of Kyoto. Wander through the famous Bamboo Grove, where towering stalks create a serene, otherworldly atmosphere perfect for photos and mindful walks. Visit Tenryu-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and take in the beautifully landscaped gardens that change with the seasons. After lunch, head back into the heart of Kyoto for an afternoon in Gion, the city’s historic geisha district. Stroll along cobblestone streets lined with traditional machiya townhouses, tea houses, and boutique shops. Keep an eye out for geisha and maiko as they make their way to appointments — a rare glimpse into living tradition. In the evening, enjoy free time to explore Kyoto’s dining scene. Whether it’s a cozy izakaya, a traditional kaiseki meal, or street food along Pontocho Alley, Kyoto offers flavors as memorable as its sights. 🎤 Later, join your travel crew for a fun karaoke night, a perfect way to cap off a day of culture and exploration while experiencing a beloved Japanese pastime.
Day 8
Today is a free day in Kyoto, giving you the chance to explore the city at your own pace and soak in the culture, cuisine, and charm that make this ancient capital so special. Wander through Nishiki Market, the “Kitchen of Kyoto,” and sample local delicacies like yuba, pickles, and matcha treats. Or stroll along the scenic streets of Philosopher’s Path, lined with temples, cherry trees, and quaint cafés. If you’re looking for cultural experiences, consider a traditional tea ceremony, a visit to a hidden shrine, or a craft workshop where you can try your hand at pottery or calligraphy. Evening is yours to enjoy Kyoto’s dining scene — whether it’s a cozy izakaya, kaiseki meal, or street food adventure — and to relax in your accommodation. ✨ Tip: This is the perfect day to follow your curiosity, take photographs, and enjoy Kyoto’s slower, more intimate moments before the journey continues.
Day 9
Today we dive deeper into Kyoto’s rich culture, starting with a visit to the Kinkaku-ji, or Golden Pavilion. This iconic temple, covered in shimmering gold leaf and set against a serene pond, is one of Japan’s most photographed landmarks. Stroll the gardens, take in the reflections on the water, and soak up the calm, almost magical atmosphere. Next, we slow things down with a traditional Zen meditation class at a local temple. Learn the principles of mindfulness, focus, and balance from a trained monk, and experience firsthand how this centuries-old practice has shaped Japanese culture and daily life. Whether you’re new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner, it’s a deeply grounding experience. After your Kyoto activities, we board the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Hiroshima. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a delicious okonomiyaki dinner, a savory local specialty layered with cabbage, noodles, and your choice of toppings — a perfect introduction to Hiroshima’s culinary scene.
Day 10
Today we explore two of Hiroshima’s most iconic and meaningful sites. Start with a visit to Miyajima Island, famous for the floating Itsukushima Shrine and its stunning torii gate that appears to float on the water at high tide. Stroll the island’s peaceful paths, spot friendly deer roaming freely, and take in the serene coastal views. This island is a perfect blend of natural beauty and spiritual tradition. In the afternoon, return to Hiroshima city for a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. Walk among the memorials and monuments, including the Atomic Bomb Dome, and reflect on the city’s history and message of peace. Take time to visit the Peace Memorial Museum to learn about Hiroshima’s journey from devastation to hope and resilience. Evening is free to explore Hiroshima’s local cuisine — perhaps sample regional favorites like Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki again, or enjoy fresh seafood from a local izakaya.
Day 11
This morning, we leave Hiroshima behind and travel to Osaka, Japan’s vibrant foodie capital. Upon arrival, we head straight to the iconic Osaka Castle, a stunning historic landmark surrounded by lush parkland. Explore the castle grounds, learn about its fascinating history, and enjoy panoramic views of the city from the observation deck. In the late afternoon, experience Dotonbori from the water on a scenic river cruise. Glide past the neon-lit streets, iconic billboards, and lively canals while taking in the energy and colors of Osaka’s entertainment district from a unique perspective. Afterward, settle into your accommodation and join your group for a welcome dinner. Savor Osaka’s culinary specialties, from fresh takoyaki and kushikatsu to regional favorites, while sharing stories and laughter with your travel companions — the perfect way to kick off your stay in this energetic city.
